Below is a list of resources you can use to stay active and entertained from the comfort and safety of your home

Les Mills
Home-grown gym empire Les Mills has various fitness programs available on TV on Demand. Their Movement to Music course is family-friendly, while their Body Balance, Body Combat, and Body Attack classes are better suited to adults.
They also have a variety of courses available on TV1 and TV2 at 9am and 3pm every day, from high intensity training, to meditation, to children’s dance classes.
There is also a 6am Born to Move class on TV2.

Yoga with Adriene
Texan yogi Adriene Mishler has become a lockdown internet sensation, with her huge variety of yoga instructional videos available for free on her YouTube channel. Many of them are beginner friendly and require no equipment, and she has courses for individuals with special physical needs, such as seniors, pregnant women, and wheelchair-bound individuals.

YMCA
The YMCA is livestreaming fitness classes that you can follow along to in the comfort of your home while NZ is in COVID-19 based lockdowns. Videos of routines screened during previous lockdowns are also available on the facebook page linked above and can be watched at any time.

Auckland Council’s Home Workouts
Auckland Council has three workouts created by fitness instructors from its Pools and Leisure team that you can do at home with no equipment. Some of these workouts are more intense than others, so remember to pick one suited to your skill and fitness level.

Te Papa’s Online Jigsaw Puzzles
Keep the kids (or yourself!) entertained while learning something about the history of NZ, using Te Papa’s library of online jigsaw puzzles, which use taonga from their collections.

250 Ways to Keep Your Family Sane During COVID-19
American parenting website Kids Out And About offers 250 suggestions for ways to occupy a family during COVID-19 lockdowns. These include suggestions for games, cooking and cleaning activities, and even science experiments and homeschooling advice.

Home Activities for Elderly Loved Ones
The American National Association of Nursing Home Attorneys has a page full of information on supporting elderly loved ones, who, being at particular risk of severe COVID-19, are more likely to be stuck at home. The page offers tips on helping your older family and friends, and numerous online resources. There are games and puzzles, virtual tours for a whole range of interests, and even offline activities and book recommendations.
