This section includes specialised resources for young people, seniors, migrants and refugees, and LGBTQ+ people in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Young People

Raise Up
Raise Up is the YMCA’s youth development program, running workshops and events by young people, for young people. In addition to their in-person events, their website includes resources on common struggles faced by young people here. You can also check them out here on Instagram.

Rainbow Youth
Rainbow Youth offers support for people aged 26 and under who identify as LGBTQ+, or who might be questioning their gender or sexual identity. They offer general support and resources, as well as 1-1 peer support.

Youthline
Need a listening ear? Youthline offers a range of free services for young people, or people supporting a young person, in need of someone to talk to. You can text them 234, call 0800 376 633, or click here to chat online with a counsellor.

Youthtown Connect
Youthtown is a not-for-profit that delivers events and programs for 5-18 year olds in Aotearoa New Zealand. You can check out your local Youthtown’s Facebook (for 5-12 year olds) or Instagram (for 13-18 year olds), while its YouTube page has something for everyone. Seniors

Age Concern
Age Concern offers a range of support for people over 65 in Aotearoa New Zealand. These include wellbeing checks, promotion of health and wellbeing, food parcels, financial and legal advice. You can contact them by phone at 09 820 0184, or visit their website.

St Johns
St Johns is offering a Caring Caller program, which offers phone-based support for those in isolation. Call 0800 000 606 if you’re looking for support, or visit their website to complete an online request.

Migrants and Refugees

Belong Aotearoa
Belong Aotearoa has a host of COVID-19 resources available online in multiple languages.

Refugees as Survivors New Zealand
Refugees as Survivors New Zealand have resources available for former refugees during COVID-19, including a support and information line available at 0800 472 769 from 9am - 5pm Mondays to Fridays. There is also a fact sheet with information for parents, which is available in Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, Tigrinya and Burmese.

Immigration New Zealand
Official government resources about COVID-19 are available for travelers, visa holders, migrants and employers. These include information on border restrictions, for refugees, and on visas for students and critical workers.

Asian Health Services
Part of Waitemata DHB, Asian Health Services was designed to deliver accessible and culturally appropriate health services to the Asian Community. They have brochures available on Tele-Health services (appointments with health professionals held on Zoom), in languages including English, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Japanese, Tagalog, Arabic, Farsi, Spanish, and Samoan.

LGBTQ+ People

Outline
Outline offers support for people 27 and above who identify as LGBTQ+, or who might be questioning their gender and/or sexual identity. For free, confidential support, call them at 0800 OUTLINE (0800 688 5463) between 6 and 9 pm. If your call is not picked up, please leave a voicemail so someone can get back to you. There is also face-to-face counselling available in Auckland or on Skype with professional counsellors.

Lifeline
Lifeline offers 24/7 confidential support for qualified counsellors and trained volunteers. Their website also offers general suicide prevention information. For counselling or information, free phone 0800 LIFELINE (0800 543 354), or free text 4357 (LIFE).
