What is “Haere Mai & Welcome” all about?

“Haere Mai & Welcome” is an creative community initiative designed to give new residents all the information they need to find their feet in their new neighbourhood. This initiative is designed to have the existing residents of Mt. Roskill welcome the new residents of the Roskill South Housing Development. Four hundred new residents will be given goody bags containing gifts including business offers in the form of vouchers, information, and a guide map of the area.

Why is “Haere Mai & Welcome” important?

The Roskill Development will add many more people to the Roskill South community, so we’d like to do our bit and extend a warm welcome to the newcomers. “Haere Mai and Welcome” is being delivered in conjunction with the Innovation unit and Kainga ora. It is supported by thirteen locally based organisation. Roskill Together agreed to be the community lead for this initiative. We delivered five community workshops co-hosted with Mt. Roskill Library, the Somali Education and Development Trust and Aotearoa Africa Foundation, Bhartiya Samaj, Roskill Chinese Group and Roskill Baptist Church.
